'Crewes Finest'

A magnificent locomotive in the twilight of it's career. 'Princess Coronation' Pacific No.46256 'Sir William A. Stanier, F.R.S' stands ready for duty at Crewe North engine sheds c1961.

This, the penultimate Stanier Pacific, was built at Crewe in 1947 and withdrawn from service by British Railways in October 1964.
